Usher's Corp
The Usher’s Corps is designed to
“make members and visitors feel
comfortable and lend spiritual
dignity to the whole church
service.” We have the ability to
put ourselves in the position of
the worshiper, to respond to their
needs and to be of assistance to
them in the act of worship. It is
our primary duty and desire to
serve God, our fellow Christians
and our church.
It is also our goal to help the
pastor and promote a high level of
worship for the participants by
promptness, courtesy, tact and
vigilance. We love God, and we
love God’s people. We demonstrate
love and all times and in all
circumstances. We practice
self-discipline at all times and
work consistently towards
self-improvement. We must be alert
and carefully monitor all
situations that might cause others
to be distracted during service.
In order to be an effective usher
of Watson Memorial Teaching
Ministries, you must be:
1. A Christian.
2. Courteous, which is the one
outstanding duty of an usher. This
means having a sense of true
fellowship, a loving personality
and a pleasant smile.
3. Alert. Alert means to always be
on the watch; quick to act or not
react. An alert usher prevents
distractions that you sense may
arise during the service.
4. Prompt. You must be swift to
act as the occasion demands. You
must be an asset to the pastor.
The pastor should not have to
question your promptness,
diligence or dedication.
5. Courageous. A courageous usher
is one who possesses Holy
Boldness. A courageous usher can
handle any situation firmly, but
lovingly. We are called to be
gatekeepers of the church, and we
must exercise this authority with
the spirit, the mind, the tongue,
and the heart of Christ.
We invite you to join our Usher’s
Corps where we are Making the
Impossible Possible through Christ
Jesus.
